The Mazarine Blue became extinct in Britain in the early 1900s (last records of a resident colony 1904). Though formerly quite widespread in southern Britain it was apparently always scarce. It is still widespread and common in mainland Europe though declining in some areas. Its main larval hostplant is Red Clover (Trifolium pratense).
